We have a deck that was treated with either Behr stain or Behr Deckover at least 2 years ago. We bought the house then and htere are empty cans of each in garage. Wood is drying out and starting to crack.
I have washed teh deck down with a cleaner and a pressure washer. Can I apply a semi solid stain over top?

I really like the natural look of Tigerwood and have recently ordered material to replace my existing deck. You recommend Amber versus Natural Tone Transparent because, I assume, natural tone transparent is not properly formulated for exotic hardwoods? By the way, I live in Michigan and my deck is covered but will get sun.

You can use any of the colors of AC on Tigerwood. The Amber was designed though to give a little better UV protection.

The Armstrong Clark in one of the Semi-transparent colors is what you would want for this.

    Roger Ewing:
I am planning to order several samples to try on my 20 year old PT deck. If I cannot find a single color that I like, can I blend semi-transparent colors with semi-solid colors? Of course, blending the two types will change both the color and grain appearance. Can natural be blended with both types? Thanks!
Yes you can mix the AC colors together for a custom color.

    Gary & Martha:
Not sure if last message was delivered - Looking for stain on Pressure treated walls build last summer ( 6 months) Is Amber a solid or semi - trans? How long would color and protection last on vertical surface vs. Horizontal in the Northeast?

Amber is a semi-transparent. Verticals will last about 3-5 years depending on the exposure to the UV.

Sample Mahogany. Is that a semi transparent or is it a plain stain. I will be applying this product on pressure treated wood. I built the deck in July and interested in your product. I am a paint contractor. I am waiting for the deck to weather for about 6 months. Rather be safe than sorry. Thank you for your time.

    The Mahogany is a semi-trans.

    Lenore:
I'm in the Chicagoland area. My deck is 25 yo (I think pressure treated pine). Partial sun. Nothing has been done to it in 15 yrs. It has no board rot just some cracking. It had a solid or semi solid stain previous. I'm restoring it and have cleaned, stripped, pressure washed and brightened so far. Im about to countersink some of the nails and sand. Your stain was recommended but I don't see a color I like. I was hoping for something cedarish with some red in it. I'm assuming as old as my wood is most any color will turn out darker than what you show. Any color recommendations for my type of deck? I'd like to go with a semi transparent stain. If I buy a 5 gallon bucket and don't use it all how long of a shelf life will the leftovers have? Could I mix colors?

Yes you can mix colors with the AC stains. Shelf life of an opened 5 gallon pail is about 12 months or less. Possiblly longer, but depends on how well you store it.

    David Wolf:
I located in central Texas. San Antonio area. My deck was rebuilt with pressure treated pine a couple years ago. And is roughly 2200sf mostly covered by trees.
Please tell me how well Armstong Clark works in this are of the USA? Can you share pros and cons with me? As well as using an airless sprayer to apply your product.

The AC can be sprayed, but you will need to back brush to ensure it is evenly applied. Typically lasts about 2 to 3 years for most deck surfaces. The semi-solid colors would give the longest life in your environment.

My deck is currently covered with Cabot Australian Timber Oil, Mahogany Flame and trying to match this as close as possible. Wondering which of your colors is as close as possible.

    Thanks

Mahogany is the closest in color.

    Oscar White:
I have a new redwood deck that is 3 1/2 months old and per your recommendations should be ready to be prepped/stained. I would like the natural red/orange color of the wood to be preserved. Would the Natural Tone stain be best to preserve the natural color? Does the Cedar Tone or Redwood Tone stains artificially color the wood?

All the colors will enhance the grain of the wood including the Natural Tone. They do not "artificially" color the wood, but enhance based on the color you choose.

Fence was just painted with Cabots Semi solid and the New redwood color is horrible.

Can I paint over it with Rustic Brown Semi?

No you cannot use the AC unless you remove the Cabot fully first.

I like the Woodland Brown shade, but would like only 40% of that shade. Would it be possible to do that. If so, could I get it as a sample? What I would like to do is use Amber on the floor and the 40% Woodland Brown on the sides of the deck to create a 2-tone effect. I do want some samples but would like to know if what I asked is possible. Thanks. ;-)

Sorry but we do not custom mix. You can mix yourself together two colors to achieve a custom color. Adding Natural into many of the colors would lighten them respectively.

    Sandy Scroggs:
I requested a few samples recently, one of which being the "Mountain Cedar". I received the samples and the Mountain Cedar is a very "orangish" color resembling the Cedar or Redwood? The picture of the sample on the website shows a much darker...greenish tone which is what I was after. I realize that the pictures may be somewhat different than the actual, but this is an extreme difference.

the MC is a tannish cedar color. There is no "green" in it.
